Game time for more young Tigers this weekend

Strong relationships with clubs at Championship and National League level see a total of 15 Leicester Tigers players gaining experience away from Welford Road this week.

Tigers Academy graduate Sam Lewis steps up to the Nottingham starting XV for their Championship Round 3 fixture away to Hartpury on Friday evening, with Cameron Jordan and Kyran Bungaroo both named among the replacements for the Green and Whites.

Fly-half Johnny McPhillips is included in Doncaster Knights’ matchday squad for the trip to Jersey, also on Friday night.

Thom Smith retains his starting spot in a Yorkshire Carnegie side coached by former Tigers fly-half Joe Ford for Sunday’s clash with Coventry, while fellow academy graduate Henri Lavin is named on the bench.

Wales U20s fly-half Sam Costelow is included in an Ampthill squad for the first time as he fills the No22 shirt in Saturday’s trip to play London Scottish.

Loughborough Students call on front-rower Keston Lines and scrum-half Jonny Law – fresh from scoring a try last time out against Hull – for their National Two North match-up with Otley on Saturday. Freddie Steward and Joe Browning both started in an impressive win for the Students over Cardiff University in the latest round of BUCS action on Wednesday.

Ollie Ashworth and Leo Gilliland both travel to Scunthorpe for Hinckley’s eighth round fixture in the same league, as James Whitcombe and Sam Eveleigh are both included as Leicester Lions host Bury St Edmunds in National Two South.
