World record-holder Dusty Hare was the guest speaker at an exclusive legends tour at Welford Road on Saturday.

Hare, the former Tigers and England full-back and world rugby’s record points-scorer, joined two tour groups in the Clubhouse Lounge to talk about his experiences of playing for the club, his memories of team-mates including England captains Paul Dodge and Peter Wheeler, and also his work after his own playing career in spotting and developing talent through the academy system.

He also paid tribute to David Matthews, the former Tigers player, coach and director, who died earlier this week, saying "he was always that wise man in the background" following an impressive playing career which brought 500-plus appearances for the club, and supporters were able to add their own messages to the Condolences Book set up in David's honour.

The exclusive tour was hosted on behalf of the Leicester Tigers Foundation, with supporters able to take advantage of special access to all areas of the stadium including the changing rooms, corporate boxes, media area and other spaces not usually open to the public on matchdays.

Guests also received a club gift to commemorate the event as well as a two-course buffet lunch in The Clubhouse.

All proceeds from the event go towards the Leicester Tigers Foundation to help deliver some of the club’s community engagement programmes.
