Leicester loanees in action this weekend

Five Leicester Tigers loanees are included in Nottingham Rugby’s matchday squad as they take on the Cornish Pirates on Friday night.

Second-rower Cameron Jordan and left wing Kyran Bungaroo are involved from the off, with Tigers team-mates Sam Lewis (19), Johnny McPhillips (22) and Joe Thomas (23) all named among the replacements for the Championship clash under the lights at The Bay.

Elsewhere, Thom Smith starts at No8 for Yorkshire Carnegie as they travel to London Scottish – also on Friday – with fellow academy graduates Henri Lavin and Taylor Gough set to be involved from the bench. Former Tigers Academy scrum-half Will Findlay takes a place among the replacements.

Tigers fly-half Sam Costelow will also be in Championship action this weekend, with a first start for Ampthill as they host Hartpury at Dillingham Park on Saturday.

Loughborough University students Joe Browning and Freddie Steward both started in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league match against Exeter University on Wednesday evening, with development squad colleagues Keston Lines and Jonny Law both set to be involved for the Students against Sedgley Park in National Two North on Saturday.

Ollie Ashworth starts at No8 for Scott Hamilton’s Hinckley RFC in the same league on Saturday, with back three Leo Gilliland named among the replacements for the ninth-round clash with Preston Grasshoppers.

Tigers trio James Whitcombe, George Martin and Sam Eveleigh travel to Redruth on Saturday for Leicester Lions in the southern section of National Two.
