Tigers Diary | Cameron Henderson

LTTV takes supporters on the recovery journey with Leicester Tigers second-rower Cameron Henderson after suffering a potential season-ending knee injury during the 21/22 campaign.

With unique access, including fly-on-the-wall footage during medical appointments, rehabilitation planning sessions and interviews with medical and conditioning staff, Henderson and his team-mates, LTTV documents the Leicester youngster’s journey from hospital bed to being back in the Tigers pack.

Watch the five-part series now exclusively on LTTV.

Episode 1: Facing facts

Only weeks after rupturing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and tearing his meniscus in the Gallagher Premiership win over Worcester Warriors in October, Henderson comes to term with the potential season-ending scenario ahead of him.

Team-mates (and house mates) Jack van Poortvliet and Ollie Chessum also chat about the serious injury to their fellow Tiger and friend.

The Leicester Tigers lock documents his post-op period, learns of the short-term impact on his season ahead and long-term impact on a young player in the early stages of his career.

Episode 2: Trusting the process

The two men overseeing Henderson’s comeback, David Power (Medical) James Nolan (Strength & Conditioning) explain the journey ahead for the Leicester Tigers lock and share an insight in to reloading the knee in a bid to get him back on the training pitch and running.

Power and Nolan provide never before discussed analysis and explanation on the plan ahead for Henderson, now post-op, and what he can expect in this crucial phase of rehabilitation.

Episode 3: Ready to run

Three months into his recovery journey and Henderson is headed to London to sit down with world-renowned knee expert and surgeon Andy Williams, as the Leicester Tigers lock continues his rehabilitation process and hopes to get back on the pitch.

Following the ‘check-up’ and Henderson is cleared to return to running, assisted at first, before taking the major step forward by getting back on the Oval Park turf.

Episode 4: Back in the mix

In a raw, honest conversation with LTTV cameras, Henderson opens up on the difficulties - on and off the field - the Leicester Tigers lock has faced up until now in his recovery journey.

Back in the training group after months of watching his team-mates on the pitch, in a memorable and record-breaking season, we are there when Henderson rejoins squad sessions.

As well as catching up with surgeon Andy Williams, Henderson also heads to Dublin to visit the Sports Surgery Clinic in the hope of securing clearance to see his name back on the selection table.

Episode 5: The ‘Cam-back’

The recovery journey reaches its final turn as Henderson is selected to make his return to playing by Steve Borthwick, named among the replacements for the side’s trip to Newcastle in Round 23 of the Gallagher Premiership campaign.

Up close and personal on matchday, LTTV follows Henderson in the build-up to and following his milestone 20th appearance for Leicester Tigers - with an emotional ending, including a memory made with his mum and mates at Kingston Park in a crucial win as the team builds towards the 21/22 finals.
