Matchday guide | Big day with the Tigers

Figure image

With a sell-out crowd in prospect and a list of activities around the game, supporters are encouraged to travel to Mattioli Woods Welford Road in good time ahead of kick-off for Sunday’s game between Leicester Tigers and Harlequins (3.00pm).

Our matchday guide contains everything you need to know about your day at the stadium.

Have your season ticket card, match ticket, print-at-home ticket or your smartphone ready before you reach the turnstile to allow prompt access to the stadium.

Kevin Sinfield and Will Findlay

Celebrating the Tigers Family

Fifteen minutes before kick-off, we will be acknowledging the achievements of some inspirational characters and events involving the Tigers Family.

While their focus on the day will be on preparing the team, the club will take the opportunity to celebrate the incredible efforts of Kevin Sinfield and Will Findlay during the last month, salute mascot Welford’s London Marathon run and welcome the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team who have enjoyed success in domestic competition and as part of Team GB’s Paralympic gold medal-winning squad.

We urge all supporters to make your way to your places in the stadium in good time to acknowledge them all with a huge Tigers round of applause.

A group of volunteers from the MND Association, a cause at the heart of Kevin Sinfield’s fundraising, will host a bucket collection around the stadium – so bring some change!

Also, the Leicester Tigers Foundation is collecting donations of gifts for distribution through the local community in the run-up to Christmas. They can be suitable for any age-group and do not have to be wrapped. If you would like to donate items, including toys, there are drops points donated and decorated by club partner Biffa in the Club Shop in the Beehive Stand on matchday as well as at reception on non-matchdays.

Face Mask

Wellbeing and Safety

The safety of the Tigers Family remains a priority so please think about the wellbeing of yourself and those around you, while helping us to minimise risks from the pandemic.

Supporters are encouraged to wear a face-covering in concourses unless eating or drinking, and in areas around other people.

Please follow directions of signage and stewards regarding entry and exit.

Take extra care over hygiene and sanitisation, and if a ball is kicked to you in the warm-up or in the game, please do not return it direct to the players or to the pitch. Instead, return to the ball boy team or a steward so it can be sanitised.

The club encourages supporters not to bring bags into the stadium in order to help minimise delays and contact due to searches at the turnstiles.

A sell-out

Tickets have sold out for Sunday’s game, but you can book for forthcoming matches at the ticket office stations around the stadium, by phone on 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or online.

The season ticket holder’s Buyback scheme is in operation for this game, where season ticket holders who are unable to attend can offer their ticket for re-sale. Keep an eye on the home tickets pages of the club website for any Buyback tickets made available.

Matchday ticket units are located at the Mattioli Woods Stand/Welford Road end, the Beehive Money Stand/Aylestone Walk end and on the plaza outside the North Stand.

The Final Whistle bar is open for early arrivals, and the turnstiles and all other kiosks and bars – now serving Carling and Madri lagers as well as a range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks – open from 1.30pm.

The ABC and Crumbie Bars in the Breedon Stand are fully open, as well as outlets at each end of the stand.

Matt Hampson Foundation calendars are on sale inside Final Whistle this weekend featuring all of your favourite players.

One group of supporters will watch from The Best Seats in the House courtesy of Mattioli Woods, and there is a chance to win a free pint in the Topps Tiles Golden Tile promotion.

You can also win with a scratchcard promotion with every purchase of a pint of Stowford Press cider.

The 100-page matchday programme is available from kiosks and in the club shops, price £3. Please note that programme booths operate cashless payments only. This week’s edition includes an interview with Nephi Leatigaga and all the facts and stats behind the team.

Send your matchday photos and messages to the stadium’s big screens courtesy of club partners Yodel. Open the Leicester Tigers app, click ‘Send A Photo’ and select ‘Big Screen’ option.

Making payments

The stadium runs cashless payments only, including shops, bars, kiosks and programme booths. Keep your loose change for the MND bucket collection.

Club Shops

The second shop in the North Stand is also open on matchdays from noon and smaller units throughout the stadium.

Both main shop units will remain open after the final whistle.

Season ticket holders receive a discount on shop purchases.

Supporters can use any Credit on their Tigers account to spend on shop purchases.

Breedon Stand

Please follow signage and instructions from stewards in the area close to players of both teams and do not gather close to the players and officials in the tunnel area before or after the game.

The Big Boot, sponsored by De Montfort University, is back, allowing groups of supporters to test their skills and their nerve on the pitch at half-time. Give them plenty of encouragement from the stands!

Kibworth Ladies Choir will lead the singing as we continue the build-up to Christmas.

From half-time, supporters can use the app to vote for a Fans’ Favourite.

Your support is appreciated and the players will acknowledge the crowd from the pitch at full-time. They are unable, though, join supporters on the touchlines.

Please do not wait and gather at the front of the stands as we aim to reduce congestion and close contact in those areas.

Supporters are not allowed on the pitch.

The Final Whistle and Droglites bars will remain open at the end of the game.

Resident band Rock Bottom provide live music in Final Whistle.

If you are unable to attend

If you do not have a ticket, there is live coverage of Sunday’s game with BT Sport or follow the action with the club’s Matchday Live service on the app and website, plus updates on the club’s social media. And keep an eye out for those Buyback tickets!
