International Youth Day celebrates the many amazing qualities of young people and acknowledges the challenges they can face.

The Leicester Tigers Foundation has supported more than 100 beneficiaries aged 14-24 over the past academic year through a combination of courses, programmes and events.

Tilly Higgs, Foundation inclusion manager, said: “We are extremely proud of all the young people we support and the journeys they go on. Many of them have faced some serious challenges and it’s amazing to see them develop as people and for us to be a small part of their story.”

From the HITZ traineeships and study programmes, Dynamite course and everything in between, the Tigers Foundation has supported young people to overcome a variety of barriers. The Foundation aims to develop:

  • Physical and mental health
  • Employability and the progression into positive next steps
  • Personal skills, including confidence, communication and teamwork

Sulaiman, a previous HITZ traineeship learner, said about his experience: “I would recommend it to everyone because everyone needs a confidence boost that will stay with them for the rest of their life.”

There are plenty of opportunities from September available for young people who are not in education, employment or training, including HITZ Jump Into Employment and HITZ Traineeships! For more information, please contact Tilly Higgs ([email protected] / 07534 922582) or see to the Foundation section on the Tigers website.
