Players are big hit on Tigers Rugby Courses

George Chuter and Billy Twelvetrees made a special appearance at this week's Tigers Rugby Course at Market Bosworth RFC.

The Tigers duo called in on Wednesday to pass on some tips to the young players enrolled on the course, sign autographs and take part in a question-and-answer session.

Leicester Tigers centre Twelvetrees said: “There was a lot of enthusiasm from the young guys – perhaps we should use some of that enthusiasm on any dark and wet mornings training at Oval Park.

“We got here just in time for lunch, which is always a bonus, and I enjoyed the question-and-answer session. The guys asked some great questions, even if George did use some of them to take the mickey out of me!

“Then we saw the guys take part in some exercises. Everyone was very keen and there were some good skills on show. Hopefully they can all progress even further.”

Club colleagues James Grindal and Jeremy Staunton visited the Tigers Rugby Course at Market Harborough RFC this week.

Matt Williams, Tigers senior rugby development officer, said: "Tigers Rugby Courses provide a real focus on the core skills and we hope all of these young players can take what they have learned into the end of their season and forward into next season.

“Most of the coaching sessions we deliver come straight from Tigers’ Oval Park training ground and everyone is always very keen to meet the Tigers players when they come to see us during the week and they have some great questions ready."

Tigers Rugby Courses, supported by Mark Group, are aimed at players involved in contact rugby from under-nines through to under-16s. Everyone who attends will receive a free ticket to a first-team game at Welford Road, as well as a Tigers Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle, plus a hot, healthy lunch each day and a personal assessment and feedback form.

The historic Oundle School is the venue for next week’s course, running April 12-16. Places are still available.

A full calendar of events is also in place for the school summer holidays.
