Pukka Swifts kick off first session

It was 2018 when Leicester Tigers Swifts team first played a competitive game, and five years later, the programme is continuing to create opportunities for black, asian and minority ethnic (BAME) youngsters across the county.

Now under the support of club partner and Leicestershire pie-maker Pukka, the Pukka Swifts hosted their first introductory session of 2022 as youngsters teamed up with players from Oadby Wyggestonian RFC training at Leicester Tigers' Oval Park.

Pukka Swifts have played a number of exhibition games over the years at Mattioli Woods Welford Road giving U10s and U11s the chance to experience competitive rugby, as well as enjoy a Leicester Tigers matchday.

Our camera's went along to the team's first session earlier this month to see what the programme is all about.

Pukka Swifts will be hosting regulars weekly sessions on Monday evenings over the next few months for under-12s to come along and get a taste of the programme. Training begins at 6.00pm for an hour at Leicester Tigers Oval Park training ground, alongside players from Oadby Wyggestonian RFC.

Open to boys of all abilities and experiences, if you'd like to come along or to find out more information, contact [email protected]
