RWC: Tigers enter the final stretch

Leicester's representatives in the England and Argentina squads have guaranteed themselves a six-week Rugby World Cup campaign after coming through the quarter-finals.

Argentina, led by head coach Marcelo Loffreda, beat Scotland 19-13 at the Stade de France in Paris and now face South Africa in the semi-finals on Sunday, 24 hours after England's encounter with hosts France. A place in the World Cup Final awaits the winners, while the losers will also stay in France for the third-place play-off.

Tigers prop Marcos Ayerza, at his first World Cup, is involved in Loffreda?s squad, while five of his Leicester team-mates are still in the tournament with England.

Martin Corry, Ben Kay, Lewis Moody, George Chuter and Dan Hipkiss were all in the England 22 for the tremendous 12-10 win over Australia in the last eight and are now preparing for a semi-final.

There was, however, quarter-final disappointment for Scotland?s James Hamilton, Fiji?s Seru Rabeni and New Zealand centre Aaron Mauger.

Geordan Murphy and Martin Castrogiovanni made their first Tigers appearances of the season in last Saturday?s Guinness Premiership match against Gloucester after returning from the World Cup, though Samoan winger Alesana Tuilagi has been sidelined by a groin injury since his return to the club.
