Seru searching for Tigers improvement

Leicester Tigers may be sitting pretty at the top of the Guinness Premiership but no-one at the club is becoming in anyway complacent. Fijian wing Seru Rabeni has been an important part of Tigers' recent winning run, but he admits there is plenty of room for improvement.

Rabeni was Leicester's solitary try-scorer in last Saturday's 13-6 victory over Worcester at Sixways, a win that saw Tigers maintain their grip on a top-four finish.

"Overall we played poorly," said Rabeni. "We didn't win quality ball to play with. When we did, we did so in bits and pieces. Our decision-making was alright but our execution was disappointing."

The match against the Warriors was the first for some of the Tigers squad since the historic Heineken Cup win over Munster, but Rabeni insists the players haven't been looking to pass the buck for a slightly disappointing overall performance.

"I think that would just be an excuse. We went there with a game plan and we just didn't as well as we wanted to play. We gave away a lot of turnover ball and made a lot of silly mistakes. We didn't do the basics very well.

"It wasn't the type of game from which you can be happy as a winger. You'd love to get the ball wide, especially in the first half, but Worcester competed very well and we didn't get as much clean ball as we wanted. Hopefully we'll improve for the match against Northampton."

As Rabeni suggests, Tigers are keen for that improvement to start against their local rivals at Welford Road later today.
