Tigers 'A' face different blues

Figure image
Having seen their first team colleagues defeat Cardiff Blues yesterday afternoon, Leicester Tigers Development XV will now take on blues of an academic kind over the next fortnight. Following the cancellation of tonight's fixture against Auckland, Andy Key's side will now play the students of Oxford and Cambridge on November 6 and 13 respectively.

Tigers had originally scheduled a match against the New Zealand side at Welford Road, but that cancellation has seen them turn to the world-famous universities to plug the gap during a two-month break from the Guinness A League.

Tigers will play both fixtures away from home - at Ifley Road, Oxford and Grange Road, Cambridge, as the students look to build towards December's Varsity match at Twickenham.

The defending Guinness A League champions will see the games as vital preparation for the second stage of their title defence, as they face Leeds, Worcester, Northampton and Sale in the space of five weeks at the end of 2006.
