Tigers fans Alice Talbot and Helen Bush said they would not miss the Heineken Cup final for the world after being the first to secure their tickets for the Murrayfield showpiece.

The season ticket holders queued through the night to secure their seats for the final against Leinster on May 23.

Alice from Loughborough and Helen from Broughton Astley began queuing at 8pm on Wednesday night and were the first at the Welford Road ticket office on Thursday morning.

Alice, a season ticket holder in the Crumbie Stand, said: “I started queuing at 8pm. I sat in my chair, covered myself in my blanket and sat there for the whole night. I managed to get about three hours sleep on and off.

“It is definitely worth it. I wouldn’t miss the final for the world.

“To start with there were 10 of us outside but as it got on people kept arriving. I would say there were around 200 of us at around 6am.”

Helen is a season ticket holder in the Crumbie Stand, and she said: “We loved queuing over night. It is all part of it. There was a really good atmosphere. You can’t miss the final.

“The Tigers players had their Players’ Sponsors Evening at Welford Road and when they came out they had a word with us. As they left they papped at us in their cars and waved.

“Harry Ellis asked us why we did it. He couldn’t believe we were going to sleep outside all night. He said we were awesome.”
