Leicester Tigers players will take on a Matt Hampson XI tomorrow (Sunday) in a Twenty20 cricket match to raise funds for local causes.

Geordan Murphy, James Grindal and Martin Castrogiovanni are set to play for the Tigers team in what will be the 10th anniversary of the Tigers Twenty20 charity cricket match.

Tigers back rower and keen cricket fan Craig Newby, who is also set to play, said: “It should be a good day and some of the Tigers players who aren’t playing will be watching.”

The Matt Hampson XI will be captained by former Leicester City and Scotland footballer Matt Elliott and is set to include Leicestershire County cricketers Paul Nixon, Matthew Hoggard and James Taylor.

The game will be held at Rothley Park Cricket Club in Westfield Lane, Rothley from 1.30pm and gates open from 12.30pm.

It will raise money for the Matt Hampson Trust, the Richard Engelgardt Trust, Loros and the development of junior cricket at Rothley Park Cricket Club.

Admission is £5 and free for children under-13. Free parking is available from the Westfield Lane entrance. There will be a barbecue, bar, raffle and fun activities for children.
