Leicester Tigers have unveiled their new home kit for the coming season.

Tigers will run out in traditional red, white and green hooped shirts for the 2011/12 season with green shorts and hooped socks.

The kit, which displays the logo of main club sponsor Caterpillar, will be worn for the first time in a competitive fixture for the opening game of the season against Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road on Saturday, September 3 (kick-off 3pm).

“These are exciting times at Leicester Tigers and we are delighted to unveil a new kit for the coming season,” says managing director David Clayton.

“Tigers are a modern, forward-looking club which holds its traditions close to its heart and this shirt is a reflection of those values.

“It was market-tested and was very well received by the members of our Supporters’ Forum and we are sure it will be a big hit with our supporters.”

Among the first to model the kit were England internationals Mat Tait and Jordan Crane, England Saxons Matt Smith and Billy Twelvetrees, All Black Scott Hamilton and last season's Supporters' Player of the Year Thomas Waldrom.

The players took part in an exclusive photo shoot with Kitbag, the official retail partners for Tigers.

“It is a nice modern-looking shirt with a traditional feel,” says Crane. “I’m sure the fans will like it.”

A full range of playing-quality home shirts will be available to purchase when the new Welford Road shop and online store are launched on Thursday, August 11 when supporters will be able to pre-order replica kits.
