Walk4Matt gathers pace

Rugby greats have been putting their best feet forward on the Walk4Matt to the Guinness Premiership Final.

The rugby community has united behind the charity walk, a 110-mile trek along the Grand Union Canal from Rugby to Twickenham.

Tigers legend Dusty Hare is walking the whole route to raise money for the Matt Hampson Trust and other designated charities chosen by each participating club.

He has been joined by fellow Tigers legend and England manager Martin Johnson, Tigers directors Rory Underwood and Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham Kt, as well as England’s most capped player Jason Leonard and former England captain Roger Uttley.

Dusty said: “It is absolutely fantastic the camaraderie that we have. It is great fun and we have had loads of people join us.”
The walk, which has the backing of the 12 Guinness Premiership clubs, Premier Rugby Ltd and the Professional Rugby Players Association, reached Kings Langley on Tuesday and will head to Uxbridge on Wednesday.

It will finish at the Guinness Premiership Final on Saturday and Dusty says he is delighted that Tigers are at the Twickenham showpiece, where they will play London Irish.

Dusty said: “I couldn’t have asked for anything better, for me personally and the Leicester contingent.”
